Like any published work, copyright on e-books is protected. This means that they can only be downloaded on authorized computers and devices.
You only need to authorize your computer or device one time. Here's how:
If you will read on a laptop or desktop: Download Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). It is free and you can get it here:
Open ADE and authorize your computer. If you are not prompted, you can go to help-->authorize my computer. It will ask you for an adobe ID, which you only need to create once, for free.
You can authorize your computer without an adobe id. The advantage to creating one is that if you authorize multiple devices/computers with the same adobe id, you can easily download or transfer the same book on up to 6 different devices. You can avoid having to download a title multiple times by searching e-books from the device you will use to read them.
If you plan on reading downloaded content on an app, such as Bluefire, you will be prompted to authorize that as well. To authorize with Bluefire, you do need an Adobe id.
You must create a Proquest account to download a book. Do that, sign in, and when you find a book you want, click full or chapter download. Ebrary nicely walks you through the process.
Step 2: if you have already downloaded Adobe Digital Editions, click "done with this step."
Step 3: when the download is complete, open the file with Digital Editions.
To read eBrary books on your tablet, you must have the Bluefire reader. It's available for IOS or Android.
Access our e-books through the library website on the device you will use to read them. Log in to your Proquest account. You will be guided through the 3 step process. The only difference is for mobile devices you are prompted to download Bluefire instead of Adobe Digital Editions.
