According to Purdue OWL Writing Lab,  Summarizing involves putting the main idea(s) into your own words, including only the main point(s). Once again, it is necessary to attribute summarized ideas to the original source. Summaries are significantly shorter than the original and take a broad overview of the source material.

How to do an annotated bibliography

A bibliography is a list of sources inclusing books, journals, websites, periodicals, etc. that one has used for researching a topic.

An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation.

An annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources.

Purdue OWL is a valuable resource that you can find examples of how to write an annotated bibliography.
