Google images

You can limit your Google Images search by usage rights, so that you get a set that you can  use for your project.

Do your search, and then click tools:

Google images search with an arrow pointing to the tools button

Then click usage rights, and creative commons licenses:

shows usage rights drop down with creative commons licenses highlighted

Attribution

Attribution is giving credit to the creator of the material you are using.

  • You must give credit even if an image is openly licensed or in the public domain
  •  Sometimes a creator will specify which words to use. Use them.
  • If no specific language is requested/required by the source owner, attribution should usually include the creator and title of the work, the date created, and where the work can be found.
  • Your attribution should go directly below your image in smaller type.
  • If you need help, ask a librarian!

Where to look for attribution information

Look for wording such as "how to use this image." It differs from site to site. Here is an example from WikiMedia
