Library student assistants: Register new patrons

New Users

User records in Alma come over from Banner, so most of the time the student will be in Alma. Sometimes, especially with dual enrollment, they will come to check out a textbook before their record is loaded into ALMA. In this case you’ll input a record which will be overlayed by the one from Banner when it’s loaded. You will also create a user record if someone from the community wants to check out something.

On the home page, select “Fullfillment” then “Manage Patron Services” then select “Register New User”.

  1. If not an ATC student, have patron fill out the application form.  Make sure they sign. 
  2. Fill In the necessary entries for the new user. 
    1. First name, last name, primary identifier (910 student ID if student, scan driver’s license if community user), user group (student or community), email (ATC e-mail if student)
  3. Under “Patron has an institutional record”
    1. Yes if student
    2. No if community
  4. Select “Update User”  On the next screen, click on the ID (right side of screen) part of a user record
  5. On the Identifier tab, select "add identifier." Identifier type is "Authentication ID" 
  6. Enter the person's ATC email if student, driver's license number if community. click save and close
  7. Click save
