Library student assistants: O.W.L.

O.W.L. is Athens Technical College's discovery tool. It provides one-stop access to the library's collection and most of our databases, as well as selected open access resources. Results list will contain a wide variety of books, eBooks, videos, and articles from newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals.

You will use O.W.L. to answer questions like: "Do you have any study books for the TEAS?" or "Do you have this book: [insert title here]?

The best way to learn about O.W.L. is to explore it.

What if we don't have something that someone needs?

If someone needs something we don't have, there are several options. The first is called interlibrary loan. Interlibrary loan is a free service where we request items from other libraries. For articles this only takes a couple days; articles are scanned and emailed. For books it takes a bit more time, since they need to be mailed.

Here is an example of an electronic journal article that we don't provide access to. The link to an interlibrary loan form is highlighted. The patron just needs to fill it out.

Techshare

For this service, you must sign in to O.W.L. (upper right corner). You use the same credentials as you do when you log into your student e-mail.

If you are searching for a book called Teach Yourself Knitting and ATC does not have it, you can always ask a librarian to get it via interlibrary loan, or you can use Techshare. To see if another technical college library owns the book, you broaden the search scope to TCSG libraries

Then, if you are signed in you'll have options to request the item from a different library:
